Meet the Washed-Up Local (Yep, That’s Me)
Hi, I’m Tara — your friendly neighborhood washed-up local.
Still here. Still weird. Still making waves.
It’s funny, isn’t it? That phrase — “washed-up local” — could sound like a diss. But I’ve decided to claim it as a badge of honor.
Because being washed up doesn’t mean you’re done. It means you’ve seen the tides. You’ve ridden the waves, been knocked over a few times, and somehow… you’re still showing up with sea salt in your hair and purpose in your heart.
I’ve been in this town long enough to know where the potholes are and where the real people gather.
I’ve worked the grind. I’ve healed through heartache. I’ve danced barefoot at community concerts and led yoga classes in unexpected corners of Volusia County. I’ve helped folks sign up for health insurance in parking lots, on folding chairs, and under pop-up tents. I’ve seen what access — or lack thereof — can do to a person’s peace.
And I’ve made it my mission to show up with both compassion and a clipboard.
I’m not here to sell you something. I’m here to walk with you.
Covered by Tara isn’t just about Medicare plans or ACA enrollments — it’s about meeting people where they are, honoring their stories, and helping them find stability when the system feels overwhelming.
The Lighthouse Collective, my community project, is about the other kind of healing: jam sessions, yoga, connection, breath, art, sweat, and laughter. It’s about knowing that healing doesn’t always happen in a clinic — sometimes it starts with a moment of belonging.
I’m not your average professional. I come with Medicare plans and yoga mats.
Some days, I’m knee-deep in paperwork. Other days, I’m leading breathwork circles. But every day, I’m out here as a resourceful, slightly salty, fully human lighthouse — shining light on what’s possible, even if the waves feel heavy.
So here’s my invite: If you’re a fellow washed-up legend… or just someone trying to ride the waves of life… let’s connect.
Tag a local who’s still making waves.
Come to a jam session.
Show up to a free yoga class.
Or just send a message and say hi.
We’re all just figuring it out. But when we do it together, it feels a whole lot lighter.
With saltwater love,
Tara
Washed-up but wildly resourceful
